Do you have a toddler who just loves putting everything in her mouth for a taste test? It’s a pretty common occurrence, but did you know that there are plenty of safe-to-taste artsy crafty messy activities that you can do at home with even the most mouthiest of toddlers – even babies!

  • 3 table spoons of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of of salt
  • 1/2 cup of corn starch
  • 2 cups of water
  • Food colouring – different colours
  • Small jars for storage – baby food jars work well

Combine all ingredients a small saucepan. Allow to warm and stir until mixture thickens to your ideal consistency. Allow to cool, then pour even amounts into your small jars. Add food colouring to create your desired colour. Let the fun begin!

  • Plain flour – as much as you like
  • Cooking oil – small amounts until ideal consistency is reached
  • Bowl, tub or container

Place plain flour into your container. Use as much as you like. Mix in small amounts of cooking oil using your hands (or toddler’s hands) until the desired consistency is reached. The mixture should be able to hold together nicely and then be able to be crumpled apart. Get messy!
